Idaho State-Portland State postgame

NOTES FROM PROVIDENCE PARK, PORTLAND, ORE

It’s been a while
The last time Idaho State won two road games in the same season was 2003. That was also the last year when the Bengals had a winning season (8-4 overall).

The last time Idaho State won two straight road games was 1995. ISU won at Cal Poly to open the season and then beat Eastern Washington.

The last time the Bengals won four games in a row was 2002.

Setting records
With two touchdown passes against Portland State, Justin Arias tied Jason Whitmer for the most TD passes in a Bengal career with 55.

Xavier Finney became the ISU single-season leader for most rushing yards in a season. He entered the Portland State game needing 46 to break the record of 1,192 held by Alfredo Anderson. Finney finished with 23 carries for 88 yards and two touchdowns. For the season, he has 219 carries for 1,235 yards and 14 touchdowns.

Same uniform, different results
Portland State wore green “camouflage” uniforms Saturday, a uniform the Vikings debuted two seasons ago when they beat Idaho State 77-10.

Injuries
Tyler Kuder and Erik Collins both returned from injury after missing last week’s game against Northern Colorado.

Kuder had two tackles in his return and was part of a defense that held the Vikings to 145 rushing yards, well below the 257 yards they were averaging in Big Sky play.

Collins had three tackles and grabbed two of Idaho State’s five interceptions.
